Twin Oak Farm has been around since 1995, but I, Margret Redman, have been in the horse business for over 20 years. I was born in Warsaw, Poland and since a child I have been horse-crazy. When I moved to the States in 1976 I followed my childhood dream of living in the American West and raising Appaloosa and Paint Horses.

In 1984 I moved to the East Coast to be closer to my family. In 1992 I purchased a Paint Stallion, Otoe's Option, as an unstarted 5 year old stallion. Despite his limited handling Otoe was easy to break and showed all the qualities I wanted in a stallion. He was intelligent and cooperative and willing to please. In less than a year, we were competing and winning in Western Pleasure, Trail and Jumping on the local APHA circuit.

In just 4 months I taught Otoe to drive and off we went on another dream quest, to show at the Paint World Show in Fort Worth, TX.  Otoe finished 4th Overall Utility Driving and 10th Overall Pleasure Driving at the 1994 World Paint Show.

As a stallion, Otoe produced wonderful temperaments and correct conformation. His babies did very well in Halter classes. He also produced floating, elegant hunter type movement. I started to cross him with Thoroughbred and warmblood mares to get more size out of his foals. Otoe was producing fancy hunters who inherited his athleticism and jumping ability.

I will always admire the soundness, temperament and versatility of the stock horse breeds.  However, in the mid-1990's my focus shifted to Hunters.  I am very fond of the Appendix Quarter Horse and the Appaloosa sport horses, who are commonly very successful on the USEF Hunter Circuit.  I sold Otoe's Option and concentrated on conditioning, fitting and showing young stock on the line at Hunter Breeding shows. From my years of breeding and showing Paint and Appaloosas on the line, the one thing I am meticulous about is proper grooming and turn out. White must be pure bright white and chestnuts should shine like copper pennies. Hard work, elbow grease and more elbow grease pays off in the show ring!

In 1999, my focus shifted slightly once again, to pony hunters.  After fitting and conditioning several ponies for Devon, I fell in love with Welsh and Welsh cross ponies.  I found all the qualities I admired in horses in the Welsh Pony, just in a smaller package.   Most of the ponies I conditioned for Devon were by the Welsh Stallion Pengwyn.  Almost all of them picked up ribbons at Devon, then Upperville and Warrenton.

After going to many Welsh breed shows, and dealing with the wonderful temperaments on these ponies, I knew I wanted to stand a registered Welsh pony stallion suitable to produce pony hunters.  Since Pengwyn had impressed me with his ability to put beautiful top lines, movement, soundness and gentle temperaments on his babies, I decided to find a son of his to stand.  In 2003 I purchased "Blackberry Jammin'" as a early two year old.  I knew his mother, Findeln Apple Jelly, and respected her bloodlines for producing quality pony hunters.  Also his black roan color appealed to me as I still love a horse of a different color.  After his first crop arrived, I decided he had proven himself as a sire, to me at least, and I decided to offer him to the public.

Here are some of the Pengwyn babies I conditioned and fitted for Devon:
